The Lila Rose is an elevated eatery designed with luxurious wood and marble, sleek interior lighting, and wall art.
The talent in the kitchen is the pro from Taco Daddy, Chef Maurice “Mo” Major. His menu boasts an assortment of small plates and different eclectic tapas. Think indulgent lobster bisque (which was creamy and full of lobster), the sweet and spicy pork belly bao, and the fried rice (which was perfectly savory and packed with fresh veggies and spice). There are a lot more small plates to choose from, as well as a hearty list of drinks and alcoholic options, which the Lila Rose prides itself on being based on perfecting.
My favorite, the Moscow Mule, was not only a hint sweet and bitter from the ginger beer, but was served in the old-fashioned bronze mug that made for a great Instagram picture. They also have a list of other specialty cocktails, and some of our favorites were the “Gina and Georgina”, with thyme, and the classic Aperol Spritz.
For our main courses, it was hard to decide on only a few options. The New York strip was flawlessly cooked and crispy on the outside, yet rare and succulent on the inside. The Cacio e Pepe with black truffle was also divine, with the right amount of black truffle to heighten this simple dish.
Overall, with the relaxed, classy ambiance that has been brought forth by The Lila Rose, we will be back as frequent guests. This new staple in downtown Stamford is not only up for an award for “Best New Restaurant”, but will serve as our best new restaurant in Stamford! Cheers!
