Stamford Public Schools Received Approval to Provide Free Meals to All Students | Stamford Moms

Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced that the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) approved the district’s application to provide free breakfast and lunch meals, through Chartwells School Dining Services, to all SPS students for the remainder of 2020, as federal funding for this program allows. This approval is the result of the district’s application to the CSDE for an extension of the Summer Food Service Program, in an effort to continue providing access to nutritious meals to children in need, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are very pleased to be able to continue to offer all students access to meals free of charge, especially during this pandemic,” said Associate Superintendent School Development Olympia Della Flora. “Families are facing many additional challenges and helping them ensure their children have access to meals hopefully will be a huge relief during this time.”

All families are still encouraged to apply online to qualify for free or reduced priced meals so that when the program expires, they can continue to receive meals. Families who wish to obtain additional information on this program should contact their child’s school or the Chartwells Dining Services page of the district website.
