Stamford Public Schools (SPS) is now registering students for the 2024 – 2025 school year! Under a new state of Connecticut law, children who live in Stamford and turn 5-years-old on or before September 1, 2024, are eligible to begin kindergarten in Stamford Public Schools in August 2024, (unless they take a kindergarten assessment. Families with kindergarten eligible children are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Early registration enables the district to better manage enrollment and staffing for the upcoming year.

According to SPS, the pre-school skills that are helpful for kindergarten include, personal social skills, language & literacy skills, numeracy skills, physical & motor skills and creative skills.
SPS encourages you to begin preparing your child for kindergarten by engaging your child in conversation, encouraging your child to express his/her needs in full sentences, exposing your child to social situations with other children, working on self-help skills and reading with your child everyday.
