Meet Ali Caravella! - Stamford Moms

How many kids do you have and what are their ages? Two daughters – Sophie turning 9 this week and Luna turned 7 last week

What do you love about living in Stamford?
I love being in nature, and Stamford is such a gift in that way—it has beaches, hiking trails, places to bike, and beautiful walking routes that keep me grounded every day. I’ve lived here since 2007 (other than a 2-year stint in Boston), and it’s been amazing to watch the city grow and evolve while continuing to invest in the community and make it a great place to live and work.

What are your favorite family activities in the area?
When our girls were younger and we lived in North Stamford, weekends at the Stamford Nature Center were our happy place. Now that we’re in Shippan, we love the beach, local farmers markets, long walks and bike rides around the neighborhood, and playing lots of sports at Chelsea Piers.

Tell us about your business.
I run Intersection Coaching, where I support women, caregivers, and modern leaders navigating change—whether they’re returning to work after caregiving, exploring a career shift, or leading a team through growth. I also partner with companies on the people side of transformation—helping build more inclusive, supportive cultures and coaching programs that truly work for working parents.

What was your inspiration for the business?
In 2020, I was an HR leader making tough decisions around layoffs and furloughs—watching so many women be pushed out of the workforce due to childcare disruptions and lack of support. I knew they needed help navigating those changes, and I wanted to be the person they could turn to. So I stepped out of corporate America to coach and consult full-time, supporting both the women themselves and the organizations that employ them.

How do you hope to help other moms through your business?
By creating a space where moms don’t have to pretend. A space where they can be fully honest about their ambition, exhaustion, doubts, and dreams. I help them sort through the swirl, get strategic, and find ways forward that align with who they are—at home and at work. Whether it’s preparing to return from leave, negotiating for what they need, or finding the courage to pivot, I meet them at the intersection and help them take the next right step.

Tell us about your relationship with The Alliance Center.
I’m currently partnering with The Alliance Center to better understand and support working moms in our local community. Together, we’re launching a survey to gather stories, insights, and ideas from moms navigating career and caregiving—and using that data to design programs that actually meet their needs. As part of the partnership, I also am offering special coaching rates for local moms who come through The Alliance Center. Click here to learn more!

How do you juggle work and mommyhood?
Honestly? I do the best I can—with a lot of partnership and support from my husband and others. After years of trying to do it all perfectly (and being way too hard on myself), I’ve learned to stay flexible and check in regularly on what I actually need in each season. I’ve also gotten intentional about carving out time for myself—daily walks, tennis, cooking a big pot of soup, and being in nature. These aren’t luxuries, they’re my non-negotiables. I know what I need to stay grounded and well, and I do my best to protect that space each week.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
Be open and flexible. When I gave birth for the first time, I handed my nurses and midwives a laminated list of my very specific and rigid preferences—based on zero real-world experience! I had totally boxed myself in. Since then, with help from many other experienced moms, I’ve learned that motherhood is fluid. You have to stay open to help, try new things, shift course, and figure out what works for you and your family in each evolving chapter.
