La Bella Vita in Stamford! | Stamford Moms

Authentic Italian food is hard to come by, really anywhere you would think outside of Italy itself! Well, the word is in, and one of the best, freshly-opened, and real-deal Italian food has come to Stamford. Quartiere, conveniently located in the heart of downtown near Bedford Street has shocked us with the quality and love they put into their dishes and atmosphere.

When you walk in, the curved ceilings and warm wood interior bring you directly to a trendy yet homestyle location, with a long curved bar offering a beautiful backdrop that extends through the restaurant. Whether or not the glass panels separating the tables were a design inspiration or a COVID-19 regulation; we loved them regardless due to the warm ambiance it gave to each table.

Starting with the drinks on the menu, there are many classic and signature cocktails to choose from. The Negroni was aromatics of orange and was slightly bitter, perfect to slice through the alcohol. The Aperol Spritz’s came in different variations, but the classic with Aperol was divine. As each plate of food came out, we were more and more impressed with the latter. We began with meatballs sitting on top of whipped ricotta, which was tender and perfectly seasoned. The warmed olives were classic, and even the bread was warm and nicely baked. We also tried the calamari with spicy chili and aioli. To find both succulent and crispy calamari is not easy, and we were surprised to find both with the chili cutting the richness.

The four pasta dishes we ordered to share were all al dente and subtle to the bite, with the respective flavor being true and delicious. The bolognese was filled with tender beef and clung well to the pasta, while the gnocchi was savory and pillowy in texture. My favorite was the carbonara, which was executed flawlessly with the ratio of cheese to egg and pancetta. We also had to try one of their pizzas, which was chewy yet tender with the perfect amount of flame on the crust. Even the simple toppings with sausage and broccoli rabe were carefully placed along with the fresh mozzarella.

We rarely experience such a great experience at a restaurant that hits every box, but the friendly and attentive waitstaff ties in with the meal you have at Quartiere. P.S., we also very rarely leave without ordering dessert, but we were so full that we had to!
