When it comes to group fitness classes, it can be hard to find the perfect one that combines, a good workout, keeps me interested enough to go back and has a schedule that works with my schedule!
So I was thrilled that after trying F45 Training Stamford Harbor Point once, I was back again in less than a week. Simply put, the workout is perfect for me! Here’s why I love it!
The Concept Is Easy!
Walking into a new gym can feel intimidating… you don’t know anyone, you don’t know where anything is. But I felt welcome as soon as I walked into F45! The staff at the front desk was friendly and showed me where to put my bags, where to get water and where we’d be working out. Plus, the gym has an open, modern layout which made me just want to jump right in!
Before the workout begins, the coaches give an intro and demonstration to explain the workout and movements. But, there are a lot of movements in each workout and I can’t possibly remember them all. So my favorite part of the class is that all the movements are on the TV screen during the workout. In the past, when I’ve done workouts that involve stations, I’ve felt confused and frustrated at each new station because I simply couldn’t remember what I was supposed to be doing. At F45, each time I go to a new station I can look up for a reminder of what I should be doing. I don’t feel lost for a second and really fell like that helps me maximize my 45 minutes!
As with any workout, some moves are more challenging than others and F45 classes fit all fitness levels. Each movement is easily modified and scaled, so I am able to challenge myself when I want to and the coaches are able to offer additional modifications when I am looking to scale back. There are multiple weights to choose from at each station so that I can select the amount of weight I want for each exercise.
It Was Like Having a Personal Trainer
I’ve never been able to do a pull up. So during my first resistance workout, when I got to the pull up station, I admittedly got a little nervous. But one of the coaches seemed to sense my nervousness and came right over to help. She got me not one, but two bands that allowed me to complete the pull ups and guided me through the exercise.
So, having two personal trainers in the class makes me feel like I get the individualized attention to help me maximize and customize my workout! Plus, it’s hard to slack off when you know someone will be coming by to check on how you’re doing.
The Team Environment
During the workout, I go from station to station with the same group of people, which really creates a team environment. We high fived, motivate one another and it really keeps momentum going throughout the class. The other thing that really helped with this was the MUSIC! As someone who loved blasting Pitbull on my iPod while on the Elliptical in college, the upbeat music really keeps me moving.
It is really difficult to find fitness class times that work with my schedule. And at F45 Stamford Harbor Point there are a few key times. My favorite is the 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday… which can be a tough class time to find at many gyms. It allows me to work out, pick my son up from daycare and then have the evening with him. The other time that works really well for a few of my friends who have kids in school is the 9:30 a.m. They drop the kids off, run an errand or two and head to workout.
All in all, I highly recommend trying F45 Stamford Harbor Point!
