At So Avante Garde you will find fragrances that are tested, tried, and true, as well as niche and independent offerings from some of the most reputable and revered perfumers in the industry. The goal is to help our guests discover the scents that suit their tastes or help define their tastes if they are unsure where to start. As a company, So Avant Garde has been mastering the world of fragrance for four years. As for the Boutique in Stamford, they are the first store to exist and have been open since March 6, 2021. With a staff of seven incredibly friendly and knowledgeable fragrance experts that will be able to help you with your every need.
Below is a Q&A with Carly Rumrill, Boutique Manager at So Avant Garde in Stamford Town Center.
What products do you offer?
At So Avant Garde, we have a little bit of everything the fragrance world has to offer. We offer fragrances for men, women, and gender-neutral and at a variety of price points. We have your traditional and more familiar “Designer” Eau de Parfum fragrances, softer and less potent fragrances for those who may like the fragrance but might be more sensitive called Eau de Toilette, and all the way up to our Niche International brands we have partnered with at are more potent, long-lasting and what people would consider their “signature scent”.
How can someone go about finding their perfect scent?
The experience of finding a signature scent is customized from person to person. Here at So Avant Garde, we take our time with each guest, ensuring we truly understand what they are looking for in a fragrance. We then begin to test a few fragrances allowing them to oxidize the skin mixing with each guest’s individual body chemistry.
What are your most popular scents right now?
Our most popular men’s fragrance for summer/fall is TUMI’s Awaken which has top notes of bergamot, grapefruit, and coriander are balanced by mid and base notes of clary sage, fir needle, cypress, frankincense, patchouli, and cedarwood perfect for any man.
As for feminine fragrances, the most popular is L’AMOUR by Lalique. This elegant fragrance has top notes of bergamot, grapefruit and coriander are balanced by mid and base notes of clary sage, fir needle, cypress, frankincense, patchouli, and cedarwood. It is perfect for every and all-day wear.
If you are looking for the perfect gender-neutral fragrance Tiziana Terenzi has just the one for you. Kirke is nectarous and mysterious. Infused with a lush bouquet of sweet fruit including passion fruit, raspberries, and pears, Kirke’s juicy scent is warmed by the sweet, indulgent heliotrope flower and a sensual base of musk.
What are your tips for wearing just the right amount of perfume or cologne?
The perfect amount of fragrance is totally a personal preference. We always let our guests make that judgment call. Some of our guests like to spray a little into their lotion and blend down to the skin. Some guests swear by placing the fragrance on their clothing instead of their skin and some prefer skin contact with their favorite scent. Fragrance should be fun and should be unique to each person wearing it!
