Exhausted, Anxious, Bloated? Your Body Is Asking for Something! - Stamford Moms

By Carolyn Brown MS RD, Indigo Wellness Group

Many women spend years living with low energy, anxiety, digestive discomfort, poor sleep, pain, or shifting hormones. They’re often told it’s just part of getting older, perimenopause, or something to manage with quick over-the-counter fixes. Over time, it becomes easy to stop listening to these signals and assume this is simply how you’re supposed to feel.

But these symptoms are your body communicating with you. When several show up at once, it’s often a sign that your body needs deeper support. With thoughtful, individualized care, it’s possible to gently uncover what’s underneath and create a clear, supportive path toward feeling better and more at home in your body again.

Why symptoms tend to cluster

Fatigue, gut issues, anxiety, and hormone changes often appear together because they’re driven by many of the same underlying factors. Chronic stress on the body can come from emotional strain, poor sleep, illness, inflammation, blood sugar swings, overtraining, or long-term life demands, keeping the nervous system stuck in a prolonged fight-or-flight state. Digestive imbalances can interfere with nutrient absorption, increase inflammation, and disrupt communication between the gut and brain. Hormonal shifts, whether postpartum, during perimenopause, or from ongoing physiological stress, can further amplify symptoms, especially when key nutrients become depleted.

A more integrated way forward

A helpful starting point is slowing down and looking for patterns rather than chasing individual symptoms. Noticing when symptoms flare, how sleep and digestion feel, and what stress looks like day to day can reveal important clues.

Support can take many forms, depending on what your body needs:

  • Nutrition support to stabilize blood sugar, support digestion, and replenish depleted nutrients
  • Functional gut testing when digestive symptoms persist or feel unexplained
  • Acupuncture to help regulate stress, improve sleep, reduce pain, and support hormonal balance
  • Pelvic floor physical therapy for core support, pelvic discomfort, bladder or bowel issues, and postpartum recovery
  • Lymphatic and bodywork therapies to support circulation, inflammation, and healing
  • Mind-body and energy-based practices to help the nervous system shift out of overdrive

These approaches tend to be most effective when they’re coordinated and customized to real life, rather than added as one more thing to manage.

What to do next

If something feels off, the most important step is listening rather than pushing through. Paying attention to patterns, asking better questions, and seeking care that looks at the whole system can shift how you feel over time.

At Indigo, our team of providers works together to listen closely to those signals. Instead of treating symptoms in isolation, we collaborate across disciplines to understand what’s driving them and create thoughtful, personalized care. The goal is to restore balance and resilience, so you can spend less energy managing symptoms and more time focused on the parts of life that matter most.
