Cristina Young Therapy Launches Innovative Parenting Series | Stamford Moms

Cristina Young Therapy is thrilled to launch its revamped 2018-19 Parenting Series.

The Parenting Series is ideal for parents seeking to evolve their parenting style to become calmer, more confident parents in their behaviors and decision making. Parenting Series’ participants will leave with a deeper understanding of their family dynamic as relates to a specific topic of interest. They will become better equipped with tools, scripts, and positive discipline techniques for an array of parenting situations. The new series format includes three small group sessions with Cristina, a take-home workbook to extend in-class work, and one 30 minute follow-up call to support adoption of classroom strategies. With this format, parents learn evidence-based strategies and behaviors, practice new skills at home, and then share their experience in class, receiving immediate feedback and additional guidance.

The first two series, offered in October and November, are “If Mama Ain’t Happy, Ain’t Nobody Happy” and “Here’s the Skinny on the Teenage Brain”, held in Greenwich at 45 E. Putnam Avenue, Suite 119.

“If Mama Ain’t Happy, Ain’t Nobody Happy” starts with skills and strategies for honoring oneself, learning to ask for help, and the significance of self-care. Then, the focus shifts to the habits of healthy marriages and techniques for excellent communication within the partnership. Finally, participants will solidify their understanding of how to manage conflict and reduce strife in order to proceed more calmly as they co-parent.

“Here’s the Skinny on the Teenage Brain,” starts with understanding the teenage brain, so parents can distinguish between normal obstacles and areas of genuine concern. Next, the discussion shifts to tactics for building deeper connections with our teens to better ride the waves of adolescence together. And finally, learn how to establish strong boundaries within the family, so that teens have something to push against while simultaneously attempting to launch themselves successfully. The total cost for either of the two series is $400, including the three small group sessions (limited to 12), take home workbook and one 30 minute follow-up call with Cristina.
