Where To Go Peach Picking! | Stamford Moms

Peach picking season is upon us! Peach season runs from late July to late September in Connecticut… although things can change depending on weather, crops, etc. There are a few great places nearby to head to if you’d like to take the kids peach picking. Some have already begun the season, while others don’t begin until August. So once you choose the farm you’d like to go to, be sure to call ahead of time to check on hours and crop conditions.

Happy peach picking!

Lyman Orchards offers a few tips when it comes to how to pick the perfect peach:

When buying or picking, they recommend looking for peaches with a creamy or golden color. A ripe peach is fragrant, firm, but not hard which you can tell by gently squeezing.

As for storing:

Fully ripe peaches are best stored in the refrigerator. If you’re looking to peal your peaches, try immersing them in boiling water for 30 seconds and then putting them in cold water before peeling. If you’d like to freeze them, try mixing with a little lemon juice and then storing the peeled, sliced peaches in a freezer bag or container!
