Westover Elementary School Building to Remain Closed for 2019-2020 School Year | Stamford Moms
The Westover Magnet Elementary School building will remain closed next school year.
On Thursday, the Mold Task Force announced that students and faculty will remain at the 1 Elmcroft location for the 2019-2020 school year.  The Task Force says a September 2019 timeframe for re-opening the Stillwater Road building was aggressive, so the lease at 1 Elmcroft was negotiated through 2020.
“The extent of the water intrusion issues at 412 Stillwater Avenue are proving as complicated as we suspected when we determined that students and faculty required relocation back in November,” said Director of Administration and Task Force Member Michael Handler. “The data and information received to date does not suggest that it is necessary to abandon the existing site, however the experts working on the project agree that a renovation of the existing building is the appropriate course of action.”
The Mold Task Force has a public meeting scheduled for March 6 at 7:00 p.m., in the third floor auditorium at Westover Magnet School at 1 Elmcroft. They plan to outline, in detail, our progress and strategy for the Stillwater property.
