Stamford Moms Packing Event at Filling in the Blanks | Stamford Moms

Filling In The Blanks (FITB) provides food to children at 27 schools and after school programs in Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk and Bedford, NY.

The Norwalk-based non-profit provides food on the weekends to children in our area who qualify for the free or reduced lunch programs or are part of the Alice populations (working families that are right above the poverty line but still struggle to get by). Each child participating in the program receives a dietician approved bag of food that contains two breakfast items, two lunch items, four snacks, a veggie, two containers of milk and a fresh piece of fruit. Every week, driver delivers the food to the schools and school programs where the food is then distributed through a school liaison or volunteer to the children on Friday.

Stamford Moms wants to give back before the start of the school year by helping Filling in the Blanks prepare with a food packing event at their warehouse on Thursday, August 22, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. We would LOVE for you to join us for the event either with friends or with your kids. Volunteers ages 8 and up can participate by packing bags of food, in an assembly line fashion, that will go directly into the hands of children in our community. It’s a great way to do something to give back once the summer vacations and camps are over and for kids to help their peers who are less fortunate. Greek Style Grill will also be on hand for volunteers to buy lunch!

If you’d like to volunteer with us, we ask that you RSVP to [email protected] as soon as possible with the names of those in your group.

Hannah will send you a volunteer form that should be filled out for each person in your party. You can either fill it out and send it back or bring the form the day of the event!
