See The Piano Art Project in Stamford Downtown! | Stamford Moms

The Piano Project in Stamford Downtown is an exciting musical outdoor sculpture exhibit that will transform downtown with colorfully decorated pianos beginning this month! The Stamford Downtown Special Services District has installed 25 donated pianos, that have been transformed into originally designed and painted art pieces. The pianos are on display for playing and enjoying by thousands of area residents and visitors June through September, 2021.

The Piano Project in Stamford Downtown is the 10th exhibit of its kind and the 28th annual sculpture exhibit produced by the Stamford Downtown Special Service District, an organization responsible for managing and promoting Stamford Downtown as the region’s destination for dining, entertainment, retail, housing and education.

Stamford Downtown assembled some of the tri-state’s most talented artists to create works of art using the pianos. Each piano is sponsored by a business or organization. The pianos will be covered at night and during inclement weather. We ask that the public does not remove the covers. After the summer-long exhibit, the pianos will be rounded up and refurbished for an auction. A portion of the proceeds will go to Project Music.

Spectators can download “Otocast,” a free smart phone app with a digital exhibit map, audio guide and artist commentary.
