The Stamford Board of Education voted Tuesday night in favor of appointing Deputy Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero as Superintendent at tonight’s meeting. This is according to a press release from the Stamford Public School District.“It is my strong belief that a positive team dynamic among board members and the superintendent is critical to the success of any district. It is with that in mind that I offered my resignation to the board at this time,” said Superintendent Earl Kim. “I have been honored to serve as Stamford’s Superintendent for the past three years, proud of the great work we have accomplished together and confident in the Board’s choice of the district’s next leader.”
“Earl Kim brought much needed stability and direction to our district at a critical time. I thank him for his thoughtful leadership and for developing a long-term mission and vision for our future. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” said Board of Education President Andy George. “The Board is confident in our selection of Dr. Lucero to lead the district going forward. She has demonstrated all of the leadership qualities needed to take us to our next level and has had a proven impact on the district during her six-year tenure as Deputy and Assistant Superintendent. We look forward to our continued work together.”
“I am excited and humbled by the opportunity to serve as the Superintendent of Stamford Public Schools and continue the positive work initiated by Superintendent Kim in the execution of our Strategic Plan,” said Deputy Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero. “I am honored that our Board has the confidence in my leadership, and I look forward to working collaboratively with them, our staff, families and community partners in the best interest of Stamford’s students.”
