Matthew Pessy is the local dad behind the interactive YouTube channel, Matty Moves. Designed to get children ages 1.5 – 4 singing, dancing, and learning, Matty shared the inspiration behind the channel, his latest video and more in our interview.

How many kids do you have?
Two, 6-month-old twins (a boy and a girl).

What do you love about living in Fairfield County?
Fairfield County is a beautiful area that offers the excitement of a bustling city like downtown Stamford alongside the scenic charm of towns like Greenwich and Wilton. I was born and raised in Greenwich, where the strong sense of community has always made it feel like home. My wife, Jessica, and I plan to raise our children in the Greenwich/Stamford area because we truly love everything it has to offer.

What are your favorite family friendly activities in the area?
My wife and I love going out to dinner in the Greenwich/Stamford area and believe it has some of the best food in the state. We have a couple favorites such as Lugano in Greenwich, Colony in Stamford but our favorite has to be Cafe Silvium in Stamford!

As a family we like to attend the parades in both Greenwich and Stamford which gives us time to enjoy a great show as well as connect with people in the community.

Tell us about Matty Moves.
Matty Moves is an interactive YouTube channel for kids 1.5 – 4 years, designed to get them singing, dancing, and learning. Through fun and engaging videos, I aim to encourage movement and creativity while incorporating “brain breaks”—short, structured activities that help kids refocus and retain information. Each video is a mini-adventure, filled with energy and imagination to keep little ones entertained and active.

What is your inspiration behind the platform?
The inspiration for Matty Moves came from spending countless hours with my nieces and nephews and seeing how much joy and activity came from interactive, movement-based content. As a dad of twins, I also wanted to create something that would allow me to spend more quality time with my family. Balancing a full-time job, fatherhood, and building this channel hasn’t been easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding. The dream is to make Matty Moves successful enough that I can focus more on this passion and on my family.

What do you hope children and families get out of your YouTube channel?
My hope is that Matty Moves inspires children to get up, move, and explore their creativity in fun, interactive ways. I want families to see the channel as a resource for bonding moments — whether it’s dancing along to a video, joining in on an adventure, or simply enjoying a break together. At its heart, Matty Moves is about fostering joy, learning, and connection.

How can families find your content?
Families can find Matty Moves on YouTube using the link HERE. Subscribing would mean the world to us, especially with some exciting releases coming soon! We also are partnering with MS4MS, helping their cause to donate to professional MS Research Centers, while also assisting those directly affected by Multiple Sclerosis. For every new subscriber from Stamford Mom’s, we will be donating $0.50 to this great cause!

What is your favorite video that you’ve done?
My favorite video is always the next one! Each video is a huge production, and we learn something new with every project. That excitement for improvement fuels my passion to keep creating and making each video better than the last. Seeing how far we’ve come and how much we’ve grown as a team keeps me motivated for what’s next. But if I had to choose, I’d say the one we just released, The Christmas Magic Show!

What do your kids think of the videos?
Although my twins are only 6 months old, they seem to love watching Matty Moves! They smile and make lots of noises when the videos are playing. I’m no expert in baby talk, but I’m pretty sure they’re saying, “Wow, Dad, this is the coolest thing ever!” At least, that’s what I like to imagine!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received from another dad?
I’ve received two pieces of advice that have really stuck with me. The first is, “You’re not alone.” Parenthood comes with incredible joy but also significant challenges. Knowing I’m not alone has been a comfort during tough times, like when my son spent eight days in the NICU with a lung issue. Thankfully, he’s fully recovered, but the experience was a reminder of the strength it takes to get through those moments.

The second piece of advice was, “Don’t blink.” Time flies, and these six months have already gone by so quickly. Parenthood is a whirlwind, but I try to stay present and cherish every moment, knowing I’ll never get this time back.
