Stephanie Landon is a Stamford mom of two and she is behind the new Free Little Art Gallery initiative popping up around Stamford! She talked to us about her inspiration and how you can get involved!
How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
Two boys- 5.5 and the other is turning 2 in a couple weeks!
What do you love about living in Stamford?
I grew up on Long Island and had a close knit community and wanted that when starting our own family. We definitely have that here, and I love the amount of trees and foliage in the area.
What are your favorite family activities in the area?
I love having a ton of activities to do together as a family so close to home. We love going to the Nature Center, Stepping Stones Museum, Maritime Aquarium, as well as so many different parks and playgrounds, my kids are never bored.
Tell us about Free Little Art Gallery – Stamford.
The Free Little Art Gallery – Stamford is for anyone and everyone (yes, even children) to make art, share art, take art.
Visitors to the gallery can take a piece of art, leave a piece of art, or both. But most of all, visitors are encouraged to enjoy the art and learn more about the talented artists in our community.
It turns out there is a whole community of Free Little Art Galleries (FLAGs) around the world!

What was your inspiration to start this initiative?
We have a Little Free Library in the area, and my sons like stopping at ours for books when we go for walks. I wanted the same community concept, but for art.
What do you hope families get out of this?
I want to encourage others to create art in any way they would like. Anyone and everyone can make art and own art. You don’t need any special training or schooling to express yourself creatively.
I hope that in making and sharing art, it brings more light and smiles to everyone’s day.

How can people get involved?
Get creative and have fun with it!
Stop by our FLAG and share your own art! You can either leave art anonymously, or add your name and social media handle to the back so we can feature on our IG page.
We would love to see where our artist’s art find their new home, so tag @FreeLittleArtGalleryStamford on Instagram and the artist (if there is one)!
What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
The best piece of advice I have gotten is to adjust my expectations with kids and to be more patient.
