How many kids do you each have and what are their ages?
I have two sons ages 6 years old and 8 months old.

What are your favorite family activities in Stamford?
Going for a walk at Cove Beach, taking the kids to the mall to enjoy the play area and the arcade, going to the movies, and going for lunch downtown.

What do you like about living in Stamford?
It is a great city with so much always happening. I like the variety of restaurants you can find, and I love all the different family-friendly activities that happen throughout the year.

Tell us about your career.
I am an early educator. I’ve worked as a preschool teacher and caregiver here in CT and my home country of Colombia for over 15 years. Since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of being a teacher, also of having my daycare and preschool. After I had my first son, I started working hard to make it happen and I was able to open my school in Colombia in 2017.

I love children, I enjoy teaching and contributing to their development in the most important years of their lives.

What is your inspiration behind Talent Kids CT and the playgroups you offer?
The idea of creating this mom group comes from the need to meet local moms, share my knowledge, and find friends for my 8-month-old. I believe that whether you are a first-time mom or even when you already have more children, having a support group of moms to share your experiences, ask questions and have fun with your little ones.

What is offered during the playgroups?
During our classes, we have playtime where moms and their little ones can socialize. We do sensory activities, music, movements, tummy time, and story time and learn bilingual Spanish vocabulary. But mostly we have fun and bond with our child.

What do you hope moms and children get out of them?
I hope to provide a safe place where moms and caregivers can help their children develop important skills, get the emotional support they need, make friends, and mostly have fun!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
“Do what’s best for you” So many times we are trying to match what other moms are doing, looking after the stereotype of being the “perfect” mother, judging and just putting more stress on ourselves. We doubt our incredible capacity of being perfect mothers just by being us. Every individual is different and all we need to do is whatever is best for each of us, without worrying or comparing ourselves to other moms.
