Meet Laura! | Stamford Moms

How many kids do you each have and what are their ages?
I have a son named, Mac, who is turning two in April!

What are your favorite family activities in Stamford?
For my animal obsessed little guy, we love Stamford Museum and Nature Center to visit all their farm animals and moo at the cows! In the summer, we’re definitely beach people, but in the winter, we still want to be by the water, so we love to take advantage of all the sidewalks and take the stroller along the water in Harbor Point!

What do you love about Stamford?
I think my favorite part is how easily you can access everything: nature, water, downtown.  We love to spend our weekends outside, any kind of outdoor adventure we can find! But then to end the day at one of the amazing restaurants, we are constantly trying something new from the Stamford food scene.

Tell us about MADabolic Stamford.
MADabolic Stamford is creating a new standard for group fitness. It is the industry’s first and only strength-driven interval training franchise.  I first experienced MADabolic personally while working for a different fitness franchise down in the DC area and after trying MAD, I was hooked immediately and knew I wanted to bring it back home to Connecticut to spread the MADness! The programming is rooted in science and backed by years of experience, and our signature intervals are designed to torch body fat, increase strength and promote lean muscle. We encourage everyone to come check us out and channel your inner athlete!

What do you love about the program?
I really could go on and on! But what I love most is our three high points: strength, structure, and accountability.

Strength: Our interval system is strength focused and crafted entirely around work-to-rest ratios, which creates a challenging-yet-accessible environment unique to each client.  Because of that, we are able to accommodate a wide range of fitness levels in every class and still tailor the work to challenge them each individually.

Structure: Our programming is so focused on structure that our signature intervals are already set a full year in advance creating a routine driven, one-stop-shop.

Accountability: If you crave a high caliber of training, we are proud to selectively claim the industry’s top trainers within our walls, we bring focus to form and quality of movement over speed and number of repetitions.

For me as a woman in the fitness industry, It feels unique to have found a brand, a culture, and a workout that promote we as women: get stronger, lift heavier, eat more, live a full life, and not only focus on calorie burn or trying to be smaller.

What is your biggest tips for moms who want to make fitness a regular part of their routine?
I think the most important tip is to find something you enjoy doing and stick to it. You’re never going to want to create time in an already hectic schedule for something you hate. So find a class or community that you love and commit to it.

How do you juggle work and mommyhood?
I definitely don’t have a perfect answer for that! Has anyone actually figured it out yet? I will say I am very grateful for a very involved and supportive spouse and a daycare that we trust and that Mac loves! I think what I found to be the most beneficial is just time blocking, time for work is set and scheduled and that way my time with Mac is uninterrupted.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
Two of my favorites came right from recent posts on this page!
Michele from the Cottage & Co. – “Aim to be present.” I think it’s so easy as a mom to have your mind on a million different things, but to really bring your focus to be in the moment!
Lauren from Work it with Lauren – “Your baby, your rules.”
