How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
I have one daughter who is 5 months old.
What are your favorite family activities in Stamford?
Most things have been closed since she was born, but we love our time outdoors and of course our family walks.
You grew up in Connecticut, why did you decide to raise your family in Stamford?
I grew up on the other side of the state, where it took 30 minutes to get to the grocery store. When my husband and I decided to move here, we loved it for its convenience. We are now able to walk to places, we are close to the city and right next to the Sound.
Tell us about your career.
I am a postural alignment specialist. I work to restore balance within the body. I typically work with clients who are in pain or looking to improve their posture.
Tell us about your company.
While most chronic pain treatment methods only address symptoms or try to deaden or mask pain, Egoscue corrects the postural issues that are at the root of your ongoing discomfort. When you’re tires are wearing out, you don’t just get new tires; you correct the alignment, so the car runs straight, and there is no pressure on other systems. The human body is similar.
What inspired you to become a health coach?
Back in 2009, I was on a journey to find a healthier way to live and also needed a career change. Becoming a health coach allowed me to see that the human body is capable of healing itself.
What is your biggest piece of advice for moms when it comes to food and fitness?
Listen to your body and trust your gut.
As a new mom, what are your tips for practicing self care?
Know your limits. The best thing you can do is take time for yourself. For me, it is taking an hour to go to the beach and read. The happier I am, the better it is for the whole family.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
Build your community! The founder of MyNestwell shared that with me when I was pregnant and it has been most important.
