Meet Giovanni Moyer! - Stamford Moms

How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
My husband and I have four kids: Colton 18, Brooke 15, Maison 12 and Jax 10.

What do you love about living in Stamford?
The sense of community, family, diversity and how close restaurants and shops are.

What are your favorite family activities in the area?
Going to RMP Raceway and trying different restaurants. My son Jax is a big foodie.

Tell us about your career?
I own an interior design business called Tomboy Chic, that’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m also a franchise owner of a youth sports company called i9 Sports.

Tell us about your interior design business.
Tomboy Chic Interior is a company I recently started over the summer that I’m slowly working to build up. The objective for TomBoy Chic is to work within a person’s budget. I think everything doesn’t have to be expensive to make a home look as if it’s from the pages of an interior design magazine.

What is your number one tip for parents when trying to create a home that is lived in but looks put together?
Durable pieces/furniture that ties into the decor and can be transitional if you want to move things around, also pieces with hidden storage compartments is a plus with young kids. Fabrics, textures that are easy to clean and safe to put stain protecting spray on.

You are also the co-owner of i9 Sports locally. Tell us about that business.
i9 Sports came into play for my husband and I because we wanted something that was kind of like an all in one youth sports program that was fun and welcoming for all kids ages 3-14. So we thought that was something we could bring here to Stamford with so many young families who have children and also may have children who want to do different sports. Also because all of our children have always been into sports we wanted them to inherit i9 sports in the future.

What do you hope to teach your children as an entrepreneur?
Set your goals, stay focused, work hard and you can accomplish anything you put your mind to.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
My mom would tell me, “I was a kid once too,” so that I would feel comfortable talking to her about anything without judgment. She reminded me of that when I became a mom and added that I should always be their safe space. So now I find myself telling my kids that too.
