Meet Dr. Vermani! | Stamford Moms

How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
I am blessed with two teenagers – An older son, Tejas, who is 17 and a daughter, Sohni, who is 14.

What do you love about living in Stamford?
Stamford offers a lot. Most important are the people and the sense of community – lots of youth sports leagues with parents volunteering a lot of their time and energy to keep the sports scene vibrant and engaging. We feel Stamford is big enough to offer the energy and diversity of the larger metropolises but small enough that the people care to interact. We have a Chelsea Piers, several beaches, lot of parks, nice restaurants and a vibrant and growing economy. I agree that Stamford is the “City that Works.” However, it also offers a wonderful, peaceful and wholesome environment for raising a family. We obviously can always use a Wholefoods.

What’s your favorite restaurant and place to shop in Stamford?
As a small business person who is active in the community, I am a very strong advocate for local shopping. While I am guilty of the pleasures of Amazon Prime, when possible, I tend to shop at the local stores in the vibrant plazas that Stamford has to offer.

For food, while we enjoy all kinds of cuisine, we tend to shuffle between the wonderful sushi and Indian restaurants that Stamford has to offer. Kotobuki for sushi and Tawa and Navratan for Indian are our go to choices.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you need some “me time”?
Alone time is best snuggled in my sofa with a Netflix drama and plenty of snacks. I have to confess that I am a typical Mom – My favorite time is any time of the day and any day of the week that the four of us are in the family room/kitchen, eating, arguing and watching our favorite YouTube music videos.

Tell us about your career.
I graduated from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 1998 and completed my residency with a concentration in advanced crown and bridge applications and full-mouth rehabilitation.

I have been practicing general dentistry in Connecticut for 20 years. With more than 20 years of experience in Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry, I am continuously developing new skills while maintaining a patient-first philosophy. As an active member of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association and the Stamford Dental Society, I remain current with the latest advancements in technology and modern dentistry. I am a certified Invisalign® provider and certified in treating sleep apnea. I currently practice in Dental365’s Stamford office.

What is your #1 tip for beautiful, healthy teeth?
Consistency! Brush, floss, cleanings every 6 months, routine exams – regularly!

How do you juggle your career with mommyhood?
I control the “to – do” list for all the family members BUT I am not shy about delegating. I trust but verify!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
“Don’t feel sad at kids’ failures. If kids are not failing, they probably are not doing enough.” As hard as it is to see kids fail, I encourage them and create opportunities for them to go outside of their comfort zone.
