Meet Dr. Kim Nichols! | Stamford Moms

How many kids do you each have and what are their ages?
I have three children, Sasha,15, Peyton ,13, and Desmond, 11.

What are your favorite family activities in Fairfield County?
I love getting out and being active – taking our Bernadoodle, Blue, out for a hike with the kids is a favorite on the weekends. In addition, I love getting out to try new restaurants in the area (I’m a big supporter of local sushi favorites).

What do you like about living in this area?
Fairfield County truly has everything – beaches, hiking trails, museums, and history, as well as being close to Manhattan.

Why did you decide to go into dermatology?
I’ve wanted to be a doctor since I was a little girl, and I’ve found that dermatology is the perfect combination of two passions – science and art. Being a cosmetic dermatologist allows me to help improve my patients’ confidence throughout each of their significant life moments – and it is so incredibly fulfilling to help people look and feel their best.

What inspired you to start NicholsMD?
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, even at a young age. So, after practicing in Manhattan for seven years, and moving from the city to Connecticut, I decided it was time to open my own practice. I developed the concept of NicholsMD of Greenwich when I saw the need for a luxe, Upper East Side experience in Greenwich without sacrificing accessibility.

NicholsMD has grown so much and SkinLab by Nichols MD in Harbor Point is a personal favorite! What has been the highlight of growing your business?
This may sound cliché, but watching my team grow has truly been the highlight of the past (almost ten!) years in business. From one practice to three (Greenwich, Harbor Point, and now, Fairfield), and from a team of three to now 22 hardworking women, seeing the passion and dedication that my staff has to carry out my mission is something that I am extremely proud of.

What is your #1 tip for moms when it comes to caring for their skin?
I always tell my patients that they don’t need to have a crazy complicated skincare regimen. Instead, I suggest they keep it simple so they can get back to being the superhero moms that they are. My trifecta of essential skincare (which I recommend to every busy mom) includes an antioxidant, a sunscreen, and a retinol.

What is your favorite skincare treatment right now?
I get this question A LOT – and while treatments and technology are ever-changing, I always love my Botox.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
The best piece of advice I’ve been given by another mom is to give 100% with the time that you do have with your children. As a working mother, I use this mantra as a reminder to always be mentally present with family when I’m with them.
