🌟 Introducing Dr. Ilana Ressler & Family 🌟
Hey there! I’m Dr. Ressler, and I’m excited to share a little glimpse into my life and work in the local community.
I’m a Reproductive Endocrinologist at Illume Fertility. I primarily see patients at our Stamford, Trumbull and Norwalk locations in CT, and our Harrison office in NY. I always wanted to be a doctor from a young age, but the more I learned about the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility, the more I loved it. It’s amazing to help people build their families every day!
What strategies do you use to balance your professional life and family responsibilities?
I’ve tried to set boundaries and remind myself it’s ok to say no. I also try to be present in the moment, whether that be with a patient or my children. I work four days a week, which allows me to have one weekday dedicated to giving attention to my family’s needs. Workdays in a fertility clinic are very long, so this extra “off” day helps me maintain balance. It’s also one of my dedicated days to exercise!
What advice do you have for others striving to find harmony between work and family life?
For those striving to find harmony between work and family life, remember that it’s important to carve out time not only for work and for family, but also for yourself! I encourage other moms in the medical profession to plan ahead and set priorities, have a good support network (including childcare), and delegate tasks to others. It’s also important to be flexible and accept that perfection is not always possible.
How has being a mom influenced your approach to patient care and empathy in your profession?
Being a mom has influenced my approach to patient care and empathy in my profession. I celebrate the successes and mourn the failures with my patients. I want nothing more than to help them achieve parenthood, as I have been fortunate enough to experience. 💖
