Meet Amy Lionetti-Scorziello! - Stamford Moms

Amy Lionetti-Scorziello is a Stamford mom of three who turned life lessons from when her children were young into a book, “Love, Mommy”. Learn more about the book and Amy’s inspiration in our interview!

How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
I have three children: Sophia (23), Lucy (20) and Lorenzo (17).

What do you love about living in Stamford?
I was born and raised in Stamford and love the diversity of neighborhoods: suburban areas, Downtown, North Stamford, the beautiful coastline. I love that there’s a little bit of something for everyone.

What are your favorite family activities in the area?
When our kids were younger, we enjoyed going to the Stamford Museum, parades and outdoor activities at our beaches and parks.

Tell us about your career and interests.
I’ve always loved being creative. I did corporate and residential event decorating and I owned a gift basket store, Creative Touch, in Stamford for 13 years, which I sold in 2004 so I could spend more time at home with my children. I enjoy being with family and friends, traveling and have recently begun playing golf!

Tell us about your book!
“Love, Mommy,” is a collection of 35 whimsically-illustrated life lessons originally intended for my three children. It tells the story of my journey through motherhood and the universal experiences we share as mothers. It took about two years to come together, during which I learned a lot about writing and myself.

What is the inspiration behind your book?
My children. When I was a younger mom, I began keeping a sketch pad of life lessons. Whenever I thought of a lesson that I wanted to share with them, I would write it down. The sketchpad went missing, but when it was found years later, I began my writing journey to turn it into a book, knowing that I now wanted to share these life lessons with others.

What do you hope families get from your book?
I hope this book helps other moms realize that we all share similar experiences. When we come together as moms and share our stories, we learn from each other and help make the journey of motherhood a little easier. I think that moms of all ages will find it relatable.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
The best piece of advice that I ever got was from my own mom: “Everyday is a holiday.” She taught me to appreciate the little moments, not just the big ones.
