Meet Amanda! | Stamford Moms

How many kids do you each have and what are their ages?
Gideon 6 years old and Beatrice 2 years old.

What are your favorite family activities in Stamford?
1. Volunteering with Future 5 in the community
2. Stamford Nature Center
3. Community events at Mill River Park

What do you love about Stamford?
I am a foodie, so I love frequenting the different restaurants in Stamford. I also love how family friendly Stamford is, with events every weekend that the entire family can enjoy (Thanks Stamford Moms for sharing them).

You’ve been Executive Director of Future 5 since June 2021. Tell us about the organization.
Future 5 helps motivated, under-resourced students in Stamford connect to their full potential, leading to independence and productive citizenship.

Our goal is to mitigate socioeconomic and systemic barriers to connect our students to the people, resources, and experiences essential to making the transition to post-secondary education and careers, with the expectation that Alumni pay it forward to the next generation.  Today – Giving Tuesday, we are fundraising to support getting our students to and through high school and college. You can support at futurefive.org.

What has been your favorite thing about your time with Future 5 so far?
The Students
The Students
The Students
An amazing Team of staff, coaches and volunteers who support our students.

What is your biggest goal as Executive Director?
Future 5 has grown from a small nonprofit to a medium sized professional nonprofit organization. My biggest goal is to create a model for sustainability and scalability to make sure that Future 5 is here to stay to support generations of students in Stamford.

How can the community get involved with Future 5?
Volunteer at futurefive.org, donate to support our work at futurefive.org, email [email protected] to learn more or schedule a visit to our clubhouse!

How do you juggle work and mommyhood?
In addition to being an Executive Director and a mom of two very busy little humans, I am pursing my Ph.D, in global leadership and serve as an adjunct faculty member for a Master’s program in Organizational Leadership; so I have to schedule everything and then leave time in the schedule for the everyday emergency and the occasional date night. With our Mom’s being far away, my husband and I are blessed to have an incredible village of friends and “heart family” to support us every step of the way.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
It sounds so cliché, but to “Cherish every moment, because our babies grow up so fast”.  It’s so true! Watching our children grow and learn is the highlight of each and every day.
