Meet A Mom: Caryn | Stamford Moms

Where are you from originally and where do you live now?
I live in Rowayton and am originally from Monroe, CT.  Before living in Rowayton, I lived in Fairfield for a decade.  Rowayton has the most amazing community and I hope to stay here for a very long time!

How many children do you have and what are their ages?
I have three children:  Ian, 26, Sarah, 20 and Michael, 18. Ian works at Synchrony Financial in Human Resources and Sarah and Michael are in college, in Boston and Colorado.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I had a brain tumor and married my neurologist!

Is there anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
My female relationships helped me the most through the ups and downs of parenthood. I’ve learned that there’s a powerful secret bond among women, which helps us deal with what life throws at us. I’m lucky that my mom lived close to me in the early stages because she was definitely my biggest support!

What are your favorite things to do with your kids?
I love to cook, eat, paddleboard, travel and do yoga with my children (I know that’s a lot!). Believe it or not, they still like spending time with me and I thank my lucky stars every day for that! I was so worried as they grew up that they wouldn’t need me because I identify so strongly with being a mom, but they just need me differently. I really had a tough time with the youngest leaving for college this past September. But now I’m fully enjoying another honeymoon stage with my husband!

Tell us about your business, which is based in Stamford!
I own a holistic health and wellness company dedicated to providing skilled services and products that deliver value and joy. We offer choices and an “outside-the-box” customized approach to our clients and often service entire families.

High Quality Home Therapy offers physical, occupational, speech, and massage therapy, psychological services, personal training and social work to people of all ages in our spa-like medical clinic in Stamford, various gyms and homes throughout Connecticut and Westchester, NY.

Our providers have unique specialties including women’s health, pediatrics, orthopedics, neurological rehab, concussion care, vestibular therapy, geriatric therapy and pelvic floor rehabilitation. We are dedicated to the community and collaborate with many companies to provide their therapy needs, including New England Institute for Neurology & Headache.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
My daughter introduced me to Instagram about 1 year ago, and through Instagram I have learned about so many different companies and people in the community that I never would have otherwise.

There is a huge need for affordable out of network skilled services for people who don’t fit into the one-size-fits-all current health care model. My company answers that need and caters to each family’s specific needs. While HQHT is out of network with insurance (except for Medicare) we recognize that people want to use their insurance and should be able to with ease. Unlike most out of network providers, we deal with insurance and advocate fiercely – like only a mom would – to benefit our clients the most!

We submit claims on behalf of our clients, maximize insurance coverage and minimize out of pocket expense. Listening to the community’s needs with respect to health care has helped me create a vibrant, results driven company with 246 providers that focus on compassion & quality in their service delivery. Each step of the way, I created my company based what I learned in raising my family so it’s very much centered on relationships.
