How To Recycle Your Christmas Tree in Stamford! | Stamford Moms

Taking down your Christmas tree this week and want to figure out what to do with it?

Scroll down for a few options.

The City of Stamford Curbside Pick Up

The City of Stamford says Christmas Tree pickup is anticipated to begin in late January. More details will be provided soon.

Christmas Tree Pick up Guidelines

  • Trees placed curbside cannot have any decorations on them
  • Trees cannot be placed in plastic bags or wrapped in plastic
  • No brush, grass clippings or bulky waste will be picked up
  • Plastic Christmas trees will not be picked up

Drop Off at the Recycling Center

You can immediately take your tree to either the Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center located at 130 Magee Avenue or the Scale House located at 101 Harborview Avenue.

Ecocycle Your Christmas Tree

Trees can be dropped off at Mianus River Park, Stamford from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, January 9 and 16. A $10 suggested donation is recommended.

Your tree will join hundreds of others being used to help stabilize streambanks, reduce erosion and create refuge habitat for wildlife. Each summer, volunteers with the Mianus Chapter of Trout Unlimited anchor these pine trees in the river, creating a structure called a “conifer revetment” which helps trap silt in the river, rebuilds eroded banks and develops a narrower, deeper and cooler river that is better for the fish and wildlife living along the river.
