How To Dispose Of Your Christmas Tree | Stamford Moms

The City of Stamford will begin curbside Christmas Tree pick up on Wednesday, January 15 and may continue curbside pickup through the end of the month, weather permitting.

Below are the city’s Christmas Tree pick up guidelines:

  • Trees placed curbside cannot have any decorations on them
  • Trees cannot be placed in plastic bags or wrapped in plastic
  • No brush, grass clippings or bulky waste will be picked up
  • Plastic Christmas trees will not be picked up

If you don’t want to wait, you can take your tree to the following locations:

The Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center
130 Magee Avenue
Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Scale House
101 Harborview Avenue
Monday – Saturday, 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Want to keep the tree for your benefit?

According to the Bartlett Arboretum, you can remove, chip and use your tree’s branches as mulch in your own garden! Or you can use the tree as a base for your compost pile. For best results, use the needles for mulch. Then, cut the branches into small pieces, so they turn into compost faster.
