Fill Out The SPS 2020-2021 Return To Learn Reopening Form | Stamford Moms
Stamford Public Schools will reopen on September 8. The Stamford Public School District is asking parents to complete the Return to Learn Reopening Form for each child and use the information below to guide your decision for the upcoming school year.
Option 1 – Hybrid Model (in-person every other day)
The Stamford Public School District will open under a Hybrid Model. The Hybrid Model in Stamford means that a reduced number of students will attend school in-person every other day (Blue/Green alternating day schedule). The following are Hybrid model details:
  1. Students will be assigned to classroom(s) and be socially distanced (6 feet apart) as much as possible.
  2. Students and staff must wear a mask or protective face covering when inside a school building; allowing for certain exceptions. The mask must completely cover their nose and mouth.
  3. Students and staff will hand wash and sanitize regularly.
  4. Students and staff will have access to a variety of desk barriers, face shields, and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as deemed appropriate and necessary.

Option 2 – Distance Teaching and Learning Academy Model (remote learning daily)

Per the Connecticut State Department of Education, Stamford Public Schools must offer families the option to temporarily opt into remote learning. With this learning model, families may decide, for medical or other reasons, not to return to school in-person immediately in the fall. The voluntary Distance Teaching and Learning Academy Model will be implemented as a separate program. Students from around the district will be grouped and assigned a teacher. Families will be expected to supervise and support attendance and engagement in this model.
• Families who opt into the Distance Teaching and Learning Academy Model will have the option to return to the in-person Hybrid Model program. There will be a two-week period at the beginning of the school year for a parent to change their mind and return their child to school in the Hybrid Model. After September 19, 2020 students will have the opportunity to return at the start of the next trimester (Elementary) or the next quarter (Middle and High School). However, a parent may make the decision to move their student at any time allowing at least a week for the transfer from one Model to the other.

According to the District, the process for returning will be shared with all families prior to the first day of school.
