Dr. Lucero: “Remote Learning will not be an option for the 2021-2022 school year” | Stamford Moms
From Stamford Public Schools:
Dear Staff and Families,
It’s hard to believe that we are only five weeks away from the start of a new school year.  Therefore, we wanted to take a moment to share some important information that the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) released to all superintendents late last week: Guidance Regarding the Future of Remote Learning in Connecticut Schools. In short, according to the CSDE guidance, Remote Learning will not be an option for the 2021-2022 school year, even for those students who are not eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination. With that in mind, together with the CORE committee and the Stamford Department of Health, we continue to develop plans and protocols for our safe return to school. As of now, no final decisions have been made regarding mask wearing or fall sports. We will keep you posted as we get closer to the first day of school. Remember, Orientation Day for our K, Grade 6 and Grade 9 students is August 27, and all students are scheduled to return on August 30.
I am hopeful that you are all enjoying the summer and have been able to minimize “screen time” and maximize fun. For those who are a part of our SPS Olympian Scholar Program, the most comprehensive summer school offering we have ever provided, thank you for joining us. I am so grateful to our SPS administrators, staff and community partners who have made this program a reality. While we encountered some  transportation challenges early on, I am pleased that those issues were resolved and our staff, students and families are truly enjoying their experience. Some were having so much fun that many who were not signed up for it, wanted to come back for the second session. Our high school students will be finishing up their summer school next week, and our high school seniors who made up their credits will participate in our summer graduation on Friday July 30, 2021. Congratulations to all of our summer graduates, we are extremely proud of all of your hard work.
Each year, the district works during the summer to fill our open positions for the coming year. Currently we have a number of vacancies for certified teachers, paraeducators and substitute teachers. If you are, or someone you know is, interested in making a difference in the lives of Stamford students, please apply for one of our openings.
Enjoy the warm weather.  Stay safe and healthy!
