Rings End: Curated with Color | Stamford Moms

There are many elements to design; with the ability to transform a space and evoke emotion, one could argue color is the most important and vital in creating a unique space.

Enter Curator Paints.  Aptly named, this new designer paint collection contains 144 colours all with the ability to work together or stand strongly on their own.  Inspired by the works of 29 Irish artists and designers, Curator’s Irish Design Collection is a blend of ultra-premium quality paint with stunning colors infused with native Irish art and design.  Curator comes in five finishes.

With a large suite of premium paint brands including Benjamin Moore, Fine Paints of Europe, and Farrow & Ball, it is no surprise that Ring’s End would be the first to introduce Curator to the United States.  Family-owned and operated since 1902, Ring’s End is a full-service premium paint retailer with 19 convenient locations throughout Connecticut, most with design centers and the new capability for customers to purchase products online.

“We are always looking to expand our product catalog, but do so with great caution and high expectations.  All Curator paint is water-based with low odor and low VOCs. It is suitable for every room in the house and is easily washed. Curator Paint is the newest collection from the heritage Ireland based company, General Paints and we are very proud to bring it into our stores and our customer’s homes, “says Scott Herling, Director of Paint Operations and Marketing for Ring’s End.

Fairfield based interior designer, and founder of The Rath Project, Diane Rath is known for the use of color and pattern in her work.  She creates family friendly spaces that are at once beautiful, bold, inviting and functional.  When approached by Ring’s End and Curator to use the new high-performance paint in her latest Fairfield county residential project, she was immediately on board.

The project, a kitchen and bath renovation, also included refinished floors, fresh paint and styling of the home’s foyer which provides a view into the newly updated heart of the home.  Together with Jeremy Lambert of Ring’s End, Diane selected four cohesive colours from the Irish Design Collection: 52 Knots, Gravel, The Avenue and Hacklefeather.

As the standout feature in the updated kitchen, the bright blue backsplash was considered when choosing which hues to incorporate.  Diane knew 52 Knots would be the perfect way to thread the backsplash’s statement color throughout the home by using it to paint the two pocket doors in the main floor bath as well as the exterior door leading to the pool in the backyard.
The bathroom blends a botanical wallpaper from York Wallcoverings, a modern vanity with brass hardware and features walls painted with Curator’s The Avenue.  This subtle blue has the ability to pull the other lighter shades of blue from the bold wallpaper and provides a soft touch to the space.
Moving through the home to the foyer, the pair of Curator’s Gravel and Hacklefeather add character to the walls and bannister to complement the recently refinished chocolate wood floors.  A warmer tone gray, Hacklefeather also pairs nicely with the bright white kitchen cabinetry seen around the corner.
When working to create a common family space, Diane has a mission to incorporate the individual personalities of her clients and their families into her design.  ” When I presented the overall design scheme (to my clients), the backsplash was an immediate hit. Paired with the lighter whites and greys, it keeps things feeling clean and fresh, while the warmer walnut wood tones make everything that much more inviting. It was really a no brainer to bring the same blues over to the bathroom, that sits adjacent to the open kitchen and dining. The doors, wall color and wallpaper tie it all together beautifully and feel at once super cool and modern and most of all one of a kind- just like the family!”

Curator Paint can be found in the Darien and Fairfield Ring’s End locations and can also be purchased online through their website, www.RingsEnd.com
