Celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day on Saturday | Stamford Moms

Get reading and get out with the kids this weekend! Saturday, February 2 is Take Your Child to the Library Day! It’s an international initiative that encourages families everywhere to take their children to their local library!

The special day started in 2011 right here in Connecticut by librarians Nadine Lipman with the Waterford Public Library and Caitlin Augusta with the Stratford Library and artist Nancy Elizabeth Wallace. TYCLD raises community awareness about the importance of the library in the life of a child, and promotes library services and programs for children and families.

The Ferguson Library is participating in the day by offering a couple of special programs for local children and their families. Details are listed below:

 

Black History Month Family Celebration
1 p.m.
South End Branch

Honoring African Americans in motion as they moved from the farm to the cities, and from poverty to the national stage in business, politics, literature and the arts. Featuring Ayanna Doreste, Angie Manigat, Anacaona Enrichment Group, art session & refreshments. All ages welcome.

Drumming About You
2 p.m.
Main Library, DiMattia Building, Third Floor Auditorium

Enjoy a drum play-along with Bob Bloom as he launches into songs with joyous beats and legendary melodies. Kids will get to handle a colorful cargo of lovable drums at this rockin’ performance.
Open to all ages.
No registration required.

The Ferguson Library is also open for usual business on Saturday.
So bring the kids by to read, take out a new book, play games & more!
