Car Seat Trade In’s This Month! | Stamford Moms

Not sure what to do with that expired car seat, or the one you just don’t need anymore? Both Target and Walmart have options for you this month!

Target’s car seat trade-in event runs September 3 – 13. Bring any expired or unwanted car seats to Target for recycling and receive a 20% off coupon valid for the purchase of a new car seat, car seat base, travel system or stroller. Select baby home gear such as playards, high chairs, swings, rockers and bouncers are included in the coupon! The coupon will be valid until September 14!

Target will accept all types of car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats and car seats that are expired or damaged. Waste Management will recycle items collected during the trade in. They’ll turn the car seats into new products like pallets and plastic buckets, as well as construction materials like steel beams and carpet padding.

The Target in Stamford is participating in the program.

When you get to your local Target store, bring your used car seat to the drop-off box located near Guest Services. The team member there will give you a 20% off coupon. Guests get one coupon per seat dropped off. While car seats can only be traded in at a Target store, the coupons picked up can be applied to both in-store and online purchases. The coupon is eligible through September 14.

Target introduced its first car seat trade-in program in April 2016. To date, through trade-in programs, Target has recycled more than 11.9 million pounds of materials!

Meanwhile, Walmart’s Car Seat Trade-In Event runs September 16 – 30. Customers can trade in used car seats at the service desk in any participating Walmart store and receive a $30 Walmart gift card. The gift card can be used in store or online to buy items for their baby. There’s a limit of two gift cards per household. Booster seats not eligible for trade-in.

Walmart is teaming up with Terracycle for the first-ever Walmart Carseat Recycling Event to celebrate National Baby Safety Month.
