The end of July and into August is a beautiful time at fields across our area that are blooming with sunflowers! Whether you want to snap some photos with a lovely backdrop, pick flowers for a bouquet, craft project or just enjoy some time outdoors, it’s the perfect activity! Buttonwood Farm’s Sunflowers for Wishes
Buttonwood Farm, 473 Shetucket Turnpike, Griswold, CT
July 19 – July 27, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Offering cut your sunflowers for $3 per person and $3 per flower. All proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut. 100% of proceeds of our sunflower sales are given directly to Make-A-Wish, as well as proceeds from t-shirt sales, which feature a unique sunflower design each season.

2025 Sunflower Maze
Lyman Orchards, 32 Reeds Gap Road, Middlefield, CT
August 1 – August 24, open daily, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Navigate your way through Connecticut’s original Sunflower Maze! The Theme this year is Sesame Street! Navigate your way through Connecticut’s original Sunflower Maze! 350,000 blooming sunflowers while spotting familiar faces like Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and more nestled throughout the maze. Celebrating it’s 19th year, the maze offers a unique blend of outdoor adventure, interactive fun, and nostalgic charm for all ages. $1 of every admission goes to support Connecticut Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders.

Sunflower Festival Weekends

Another year of sunflowers proudly grown over 3 acres, with over 10 varieties ranging in sizes and colors. Pick-your-own sunflowers, take pictures of our beautiful backdrop and enjoy food trucks & live music.

7th Annual Sunflower Festival
Barton Orchards, 63 Apple Tree Lane, Poughquag, NY
Weekends, August 22 – August 31
Join a vibrant celebration of sunshine and blooms at the 7th Annual Sunflower Festival! Wander through acres of breathtaking sunflower fields, snap the perfect photos, and enjoy a day filled with farm fun, live music, delicious food, and more.

Lapsley Orchard Sunflowers for Kids
403 Orchard Hill Road, Pomfret Center, CT
Sunday, August 31, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The annual Sunflowers for Kids event is held the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend when all proceeds collected from flower sales are donated to United Community and Family Services to help fund local children’s programs. The event includes hay rides, PYO apples, and children’s activities. 

The Farm’s Annual Sunflower Festival
281 Weekeepeemee Road – RT 132, Woodbury, CT
August 31 – September 15 (The Sunflower Field is Closed Monday – Wednesday), 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Enjoy a leisurely walk through 4 acres of many varieties of one of Mother Nature’s most beautiful flowers. From towering giants, to more compact varieties of many colors, you will be amazed when you look out across our fields.
