6 Activities For You & Your Baby | Stamford Moms

When it’s cold out, being stuck inside with a baby can be tough for both of you. And finding the time to actually look for things to do can be impossible. But, there are plenty of ways to get out and enjoy some time outside the house bonding with your baby this winter.

Here are a few of my favorites!

FAMILY TREE YOGA

When my son was an infant, Mommy and Me Yoga at Family Tree was my absolute favorite! It sounds silly but it can be tough to figure out how to “play” with a little baby. This gave me ideas for fun little songs to sing with him and ways to play together, even at home. Plus, I learned really interesting things about his development and ways to soothe him.

This winter’s series is on Tuesdays at 11:15 a.m. The class is for babies 6 weeks – pre-crawling.

FIT 4 MOM

Fit 4 Mom Fairfield County is a good way to fit in a good workout and add in a little play time, without needing to hire a babysitter. You workout and the baby is in the stroller… meltdowns happen. And when they do, the instructor is happy to help out. I met some great friends, with kids around the same age by doing the program and loved the chance to get moving again.

For the winter, Stamford classes meet at Stamford Town Center. Check the schedule to see what day and time work best for you. Your first trial class is FREE. When you sign up for your next classes, use the code STAMFORDMOMS for 20% off!

HARTBEEPS

Hartbeeps is so interactive, colorful and exciting for babies! There’s music, dramatic play, toys and more.

The Baby Bells class is for the newborn to sitting stage and Happy House is for baby to toddler. Classes are in Darien, New Canaan and Westport. The first trial class is FREE!

BABY TIME AT THE FERGUSON

Baby Time at the Ferguson Library is FREE and no registration is required. It’s a wonderful way to get out to play and read traditional verses, bouncing rhymes, board books and more with your baby. The program is for p-walking babies with an adult.

Baby Time is at the Main Library on Fridays at 10:15 a.m. and Saturday, February 3 at 10:30 a.m. and at The Weed Memorial Hollander Branch on Monday, January 28 and Monday, February 25 at 11:15 a.m.

MUSIC TOGETHER

I’ve taken my son to Music Together since he was 4 months old and it’s been so much fun to see his progress from just looking around and taking everything in, to dancing and getting excited to pull out all the instruments.

There are Baby Classes for 0 – 8 months available in Stamford at The JCC at several times during the week and also in neighboring towns. A 15 minute informal new moms group follows class. The great thing is, once you take your FREE trial class and sign up for a class, you get UNLIMITED bonus and make up classes. So, you can really go any time you want, to any location you want as long as there is space and you sign up ahead of time.

SWIM LESSONS

My son started swim lessons on Saturday mornings at the Italian Center at 6 months old and had a blast! He loved splashing around in the water and playing with the balls the instructors threw in. Plus, it was a great things for he and my husband to do together! The Italian Center has swim classes for babies beginning at 6 months old, as does the Stamford JCC, the Stamford YMCA and beginning at 3 months at Chelsea Piers.
