5 Reasons to Visit the New Bruce Museum on its Grand Opening Day! | Stamford Moms

On Sunday April 2nd, from 12:00pm – 5:00pm, the Bruce Museum opens the doors of its incredible new building with a free day of activities and fun for the whole family!

There are plenty of great exhibitions for the kids including Penguins: Past and Present which showcases the story of these remarkable birds and includes fossils of the ancient ancestors of today’s penguins, a reconstruction of the giant, extinct penguin Kairuku, and innovative dioramas that illuminate the amazing lives of penguins.

Don’t forget to visit Natural Cycles Shape Our Land in the permanent science galleries which features fossils and full-size replicas of dinosaurs that roamed Connecticut in the Triassic and Jurassic periods. There’s also the Marine Ecosystem Gallery which combines beautifully crafted dioramas and an array of tanks with live sea creatures from Long Island Sound.

There are dozens of reasons to visit the new Bruce with your family and friends.  Here are five to get you started:

The Bruce is Unique

The Bruce is one of the few museums in the country where art and science meet – and it’s in your backyard! You and your family can view engaging and important works of art in the beautiful new galleries while also exploring the fascinating evolution of the natural world.

The Bruce is Fun

Whether marveling at the brilliant colors, dazzling lusters and fascinating crystal forms of the minerals in the Robert R. Weiner Mineral Gallery or smiling over the giant insect models in the Big Backyard gallery, the Bruce offers something to enjoy for everyone.

The Bruce is Mind Expanding

Because the Bruce is both an art and science museum, it feeds both the emotional and analytical sides of your brain. It’s a place where you can experience the beauty and emotional power of art in stunning gallery spaces while also learning about nature and the environment in fun and delightful ways.

The Bruce is Engaging

There are plenty of programs for children, teens and adults offering hands-on workshops, tours, family friendly events and more throughout the year. Or visit BruceMuseum.org where you will find educational videos and recaps of previous events.

The Bruce is Yours!

The Bruce belongs to everyone in the Greenwich and greater Fairfield County communities. It’s a haven where you can come and be amazed, enlightened or just relax. It was built by and supported by people like you, your friends and your neighbors.

So mark April 2nd in your calendars for the Bruce Museum’s Grand Opening day and make a point to visit the new Bruce!
