Go for a Hike at Bear Mountain State Park

Located on the west bank of the Hudson River, Bear Mountain is an absolute must do activity with your teenager this summer. It’s almost an hour away from Stamford, Bear Mountain’s views and hiking trails are worth the drive to New York. The most popular trail, called the Bear Mountain Loop Trail, is about 4 miles round trip and takes about 2 hours to complete. Make sure to go earlier in the day as the hike at Bear Mountain State Park is extremely popular!

Golf at Sterling Farms Golf Course 

Rated the #1 public golf course in Fairfield County year after year, Sterling Farms Golf Course is a wonderful way for teenagers to occupy a nice summer morning or afternoon. Sterling Farms is an 18 hole public golf facility located right in Stamford, Connecticut, making it an easy commute for teenagers. While some of the holes may provide challenging play, all skill levels are welcomed at this course and are promised a fun experience. Make sure that you set up an online tee time on their website before you go for your day of golf.

Visit Cove Island Park for a Beach Day 

The 83 acre park features many amenities including two sandy beaches, a walking trail and a bike path. It is the perfect way for your teenager to spend a fun summer day only a few minutes from home! Be reminded that in order to enter the park, Stamford residents must present a parking pass upon arrival.

Head to The Adventure Park at the Discovery Museum

Only a 30 minute drive from Stamford, The Adventure Park in Bridgeport is an incredible outdoor zipline experience. The park features 11 different aerial courses connected by treetop challenges, bridges and ziplines. Best of all, anyone of any skill level is welcome to participate in all of the Adventure Park activities! It is a wonderful outdoor experience that your teenager will absolutely enjoy this summer.

Spend a day in New York City 

Whether you are sightseeing, walking the High Line or having a picnic in Central Park, going to New York City on a summer day with your teenager will not disappoint. If you are hungry and need a bite to eat, there are many restaurants within walking distance throughout the whole city, some favorites including Serafina and Black Tap. Bring your teenager have to go to One World Observatory; the views are something you will never forget.
