27 Free Outdoor Performances Mark Make Music Day in Stamford Downtown! | Stamford Moms

The fourth annual Make Music Day Stamford Downtown is today!

It’s a mix of 27 free outdoor musical events beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until 7 p.m. Make Music Day Stamford Downtown is part of Make Music Day, a global music celebration that takes place on the summer solstice each year and brings people of all ages and skill levels together to make music.

Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries. Completely different from a typical musical festival, Make Music Day concerts are performed by anyone who wants to take part and enjoyed by everyone who wants to attend or view online.

Make Music Day Stamford Downtown venues include Latham Park, Mill River Park, Columbus Park, Old Town Hall, Ferguson Library Plaza and Stamford URBY.

Performances will be in a variety of genres including pop, rock, latin, singer/songwriter, electronic, blues, americana/bluegrass, folk, jazz, r&b, classic, standards, soul, indie-folk, country and brass. The performances will be small (a majority are solo performers) and will be held in areas where space permits.
