Meet the Founder of Snapology Stamford! | Stamford Moms

Snapology of Stamford is a new learning concept that combines play with education for children ages 3-14. They provide a fun, interactive environment for students to learn science, technology, engineering, art, math, and robotics. Using LEGO® bricks and other tools, Snapology design and host inclusive after-school enrichment programs, summer camps, workshops, birthday parties, scouting events, and field trips.

Kimone Johnson founded Snapology of Stamford. We chatted with her about the program and why STEAM is so important for kids!

My son absolutely loves your classes. What made you decide to open Snapology in Stamford?
I’ve worked in education for over 16 years. In 2021, I did a report for the White House showcasing the short- and long-term impact of the pandemic on students’ academics and mental health. This study highlighted the great need for hands-on interactive programming to get children excited about reading and STEM—exactly what Snapology does using Lego® bricks and technology.

Do you have a favorite STEAM lesson to teach?
They’re honestly all so much fun! I’ve built every lesson we’ve taught to date. Each build provides a new learning focus and nothing beats the excitement of students seeing their build in action. If I had to pick, I’d say our robotics and engineering programs provide a lot of wow moments.

Why is STEAM an important part of learning for kids?
Science, technology, engineering, art, and math impact our lives from the moment we wake up. For example, components of STEAM are required to build an alarm clock or the vehicles we use to get to and from school or work. It’s important for children to develop their critical thinking skills at an early age and consider how they can use their knowledge to make the world a better place.

What impact do you hope Snapology classes have on students?
Our goal is to introduce students to the wonders of STEAM. By giving all students access to our inclusive programing, we look forward to igniting the next generation of innovators, scientists, engineers, doctors and more.

What plans do you have coming up for Snapology of Stamford?
We’re excited to host our first summer camp series at Pickleball America and The Stamford JCC! We have so many fun hands-on interactive challenges, experiments and games lined up. There’s a program to peak every child’s interest from engineering to movie making animation! Check it out at Stamford.Snapology.com.

What is your #1 piece of advice to parents who want to make learning fun for their kids?
Tap into your child’s interests by encouraging them to learn more about it by visiting your local museums or libraries or try a hands-on class like Snapology that will spark their curiosity and build their background knowledge.
