Meet Marissa! | Stamford Moms

How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
I have two children – Luka (2) Madison (5)

What do you love about living in Stamford?
The diversity and how the community is so welcoming to all age groups and families. It gives a sense of small- town community in a big city.

What’s your favorite restaurant and/or place to shop in Stamford?
Oohhh so many options, makes it hard to pick! Depends on the occasion! Family night: Table 104 (kid friendly, great food and great atmosphere). Date night: Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse (since my husband is Brazilian and loves the food and atmosphere).

Tell us about your career.
I started off going to college for business management and then switched my major to interior design. I now work for my father’s construction development company as a project coordinator along with running my mobile play business.

What is your inspiration behind Pretty Little Play Co?
My children are the driving force in everything I do. I have always been into making my children’s parties and those of my friends aesthetically beautiful, however, felt that the entertainment and activities were lacking. I wanted to add the ultimate mobile fun for the children wherever the party may be (backyard, restaurant, basement, etc.).  I also wanted us moms to have peace of mind and be able to enjoy ourselves. And with my interior design background, I really enjoy giving each client a luxurious modern look customized to their event.

What do you love most about your business?
The fact that kids have so much fun! Little ones get to work on their gross motor skills while they play, and it eases a lot of the pressure on parents having to entertain the kids. It’s a win win for everyone!

What is your #1 tip for moms looking to have a fun party for a small child?
Be considerate of the different age groups that will attend. Different ages play differently. Also, if you’re limited to space, you can never go wrong with a ball pit.

How do you juggle work and mommyhood?
I have great support from the people around me. I couldn’t do it without my husband, my friends and family. I am beyond grateful for them. Also, most of my clients are moms! So naturally, we have a mutual understanding, and we get to talk whenever we have the chance. all different types of hours.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
“It’s okay to ask for help.” As moms, we tend to put a lot of pressure on ourselves to take care of it all and can feel some guilt asking others for help; However, that saying, “it takes a village” has really proven to be true during my journey. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I tried to do it all on my own.
