Meet A Mom: Pilin | Stamford Moms

How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
I have two beautiful children. My daughter is 11 and my son is 4.

What brought you to this area?
My husband didn’t like the city and he’s a CT native. I commute into the city so Fairfield County was our compromise.

What’s your favorite family activity in Stamford?
Currently it’s playing in Mill River Park followed by dinner at Teff.

What are your must haves when you leave the house with the kids?
I keep a bag in the car with extra clothes for them and now that its summer, beach gear, because you never know when the beach will call! And of course, I always have healthy snacks and hand wipes!

What’s been your favorite “mommy moment” so far?
How could I choose just one moment!? Motherhood is such a gift and I am enjoying this journey. If I had to chose a moment, it would simply be each sweet hug I receive from them.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you need some “me time”?
My favorite self-care practice is a hot candlelit bath with sea salts and essential oils followed by mediation. I find that its the perfect way to reset.

Tell us about your career.
For the past decade, I have enjoyed a career as a full-time Yoga Instructor, wellness coach, model, and actress. My mission is to use my work to connect, inspire, and uplift others.

What are your tips for other moms who want to make more time for their own fitness and wellness?
I always say that it starts with making your health a priority. It begins with deciding, setting an intention around fitness/wellness and what it looks like for YOU and your lifestyle. Then carve out time to integrate and execute. Don’t get caught up with trends and what others are doing, instead start to get to know your own body intuitively and focus on what makes you feel your best. If you need support, get in touch with a coach that can guide you on the path.

Why is yoga such a great option for busy moms?
As a breath centered practice, yoga creates a deep connection with the present moment. This is awesome for moms because we are constantly caring for others and moving from one thing to the next. Time spent on a yoga mat spent is sure be relaxing, grounding, and eliminates stress.

What classes do you offer in Stamford?
In the summer, I lead a free Afro Flow Yoga class at Mill River Park on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. through September. It’s so awesome to practice outdoors and the classes have live music by Kevin Makarewicz!

How do you balance work & mommyhood?
As an entrepreneur, I don’t have a set schedule and everyday looks different. With things always shifting, finding balance for me is internal. My daily morning and evening practices are essential for me to get centered spiritually, physically, and mentally so that I can handle all the day has to offer with grace and gratitude, no matter what comes up or how things turn out.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
Be present and enjoy every moment because they grow up before you know it! and This too shall pass…Just go with the flow!
