Choosing Love at Building Blocks Early Learning Center | Stamford Moms

In the world we live in it’s so important to Choose Love! That’s why at Building Blocks Early Learning Centers we do just that!!

We have paired up with the Choose Love Movement to teach our little ones the importance of Courage, Graitude, Forgiveness, and Compassion. Social Emotional Development is so important for your child’s early development and beyond. BBELC is one of the first early learning centers to introduce the Choose Love curriculum. We believe by starting as early as possible we are shaping of our children to become loving, caring individuals. Smiles, giggles, and hugs are given throughout the day.

So, this school year we are piloting the first TODDLER Choose Love curriculum into our weekly lessons. Similar to the preschool curriculum, the units addressed are Compassion, Forgiveness, Gratitude, and Courage. All key components to a child’s Social and Emotional development.

All of the BBELC teachers will be making the pledge to choose love!

A great way to reinforce these characteristics at home is to model how you Choose Love. Below are a few things to consider when addressing Social Emotional development:

*         Social Emotional Development begins on the very first day of life.

*         Relationships provide the necessary comfort for infants and toddlers to encourage them to explore opportunities to learn and grow.

*         Responsive, sensitive caregiving is primary to promoting healthy social emotional learning in infants and toddlers.

*         Individual, family, and cultural beliefs and expectations have a huge impact on all areas of development, including Social Emotional Learning.

*         Babies are born with inborn traits, including temperamental style, which influence their relationships.

*         Babies and toddlers communicate through their behavior.  All behavior is a form of communication.

*         Just as we teach young children to read and write, we must teach them Social Emotional skills.

*         Just as some children need extra assistance to learn how to read and write, some children will need more assistance to learn Social Emotional skills.

*         Just as some children walk at 9 months old and some walk at 16 months old, children learn Social Emotional skills at different rates and times.

What better way to learn then in a HAPPY, LOVING environment.
