4th Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence

July 4 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The 4th Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence is back to take place on the steps of Stamford’s oldest dwelling the Hoyt-Barnum House!
You will see board members including Rick Petersen in costume. In addition, this year we are including readings from other documents reflecting multiple voices seeking justice and equality for all peoples. These readings include excerpts from the Declaration of Rights and Sentiments, signed at the Seneca Falls Women’s Rights Convention in 1848, and the famous 1852 speech given by Frederick Douglass “What, To the Slave, Is the Fourth of July?”
